Hotel Tips
Life hack number one is not to skip the free evening happy hour. Generally, that’s at the rooftop bar early in the evening, and it includes complimentary wines, beers, and snacks. Tremendous value and an excellent choice for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. It gives a great social vibe of chatting with other guests and getting travel tips from there. Do this while heading to the rooftop jacuzzi- you’re in for quite a memorable sunset.
Let your staff be your personal food guides. The team at Le Dream are all locals and have a passion for Penang's culinary scene. Instead of always believing what's written on the blogs, ask them – What is your personal favorite place for 'Assam Laksa' or the best ‘Nasi Kandar’? They would lead you to some hidden gems off the beaten track that are not quite on the main tourist trail. Forget the hotel café one morning and walk to a nearby traditional ‘kopitiam’ for kaya toast, soft-boiled eggs and very strong local coffee.
The heritage zone is best explored on foot. However, to travel further afield, use the Grab app. Very affordable and very reliable in Penang for getting to places such as Penang Hill or the national park. Also near the KOMTAR bus hub, which is a big plus. You can easily catch the cheap public buses to the beach resorts at Batu Ferringhi or the other side of the island.
Booking a Corner Room or Deluxe Category If space is a consideration when booking your room, you might consider booking one of the corner rooms or one of the slightly larger deluxe categories, as the standard ones are famously compact. The hotel is very popular, with good reviews and perks, so booking several months in advance is highly recommended if you plan on traveling at peak times or local holidays.
